Citizens plead for "...something." Politicians promise
to deliver "...something."
But, virtually nothing new happens!
"CINCO" IS SOMETHING ELSE!!! Defying liberal and conservative labels, "CINCO" offers bold and innovative solutions to many of America's chronic social and economic ills.
More time, better health, and more money? "Amazing things are possible when America is moving," says "CINCO's' author, Dr. Karl Mertz. And, moving is exactly what he proposes, beginning with relocating the nation's capital west of the Mississippi River, to America's heartland. "New Columbia," his proposed name for a new capital, "would have practical and symbolic advantages over D.C., while most of the latter could be made a National Park and renamed the Historic District of Columbia (H.D.C.)," says Mertz.
Counting the five thought provoking ideas in "CINCO, DOS" (the books bonus section), the author actually outlines a ten-fold vision for America and beyond.
"We'll actually have to think our country back to greatness," says Mertz, whose novel proposals challenge traditional (gridlocked) positions on abortion, affirmative action, the death penalty, and federal income taxes, etc. "Special Interests and Ideologues will hate my ideas, as will most of their bought and paid for politicians. But, my book's not written for any of them," he says bluntly.
Like his book's first proposal, its last will be met by some with "Get out of town" skepticism. "But," says Mertz, "that's precisely the point. The U.N. should assert the world's imminent domain over Jerusalem and move all of its offices to there, excluding the General Assembly. This bold step toward ending the Middle East Crisis could also go a long way toward establishing freedom of (and from) religion."

"Christian poetry is not an oxymoron, but its certainly a rarity," declares Dr. Karl Mertz, author of "Duel Entendre: The Battle for Your Soul!" Such pointed statements are simply offered as "facts" and his complex poems as "Christian offerings.""The fifty titles, each with a dual entendre (double meaning), came to me over many years of communing, while commuting." says Mertz, "but each poem was written in just a few minutes of inspiration. 'Dual' became 'duel,' once I realized what each had in common, the battle for your soul."
Defying liberal and conservative labels, "Duel Entendre" holds up a two-way mirror to readers and begs the questions, " 'Do you see yourself?' and 'Does God like what He sees?' "
Virtually all of Mertz' soul-shaking poems amount to non-denominational and nonpartisan essays on life's dilemmas. "My perspective, I pray, has been Christian," says Mertz, noting his opposition to abortion and the death penalty. "I've also tried to offer hope, by pointing readers toward salvation and righteousness," adds the author, offering: "By deed, word and/or thought I've broken every Commandment, for which I am truly repentant. However, Christians must not become paralyzed by their sinfulness. Biblical and constitutional heresies must be challenged, not tolerated."
"Duel Entendre" is available for $9.95 (including postage) from Red Creek Publishing, 7416 Red Creek Road, Long Beach, MS 39560.
